MESOPOTAMIA:
The Babylonians The Persians The Sumerians
-The Sumerians developed the first language and writing system. They called it cuneiform. This was important to them, and any other civilization because it allowed them to document their lives. Without the invention of writing, we wouldn't know about history today, -They also developed a math and geometry system. This was used in their schooling and education. It is very imprtant to have a strong knowledge of math and geometry to educate the young. -The Sumerians developed city-states in order to ahcieve organization within their civilization. Orgainization is very important in all aspects of a civilization in order to avoid chaos and confusion, and to make things easier.
Sumerians
-The Persians had an extremely strong army, and liked to be involoved in war. They used many weapons that helped them along the way. Having a decent army is important to a civilization when it comes to protecting it. -They also allowed their people to believe and worship any religion of their choice. I think this is an important aspect because it creates diversity, and gives people more freedom. -The Persians were also good at conquering land because of their strong army. They extended the Persian Empire from the HIndu Kush Mountains to the Caucasus Mountains. It is important to conquer land so that you can expand and spread your ideas to other civilizations.
Persians
-The Babylonians created a number system, based on 60. We use this number system today for time. It is important for a civilization to be advanced in numbers as a means of cummunication. -They also had 3 distinct social classes, formed in order to maintain organization within the civilization. These social classes are important to any civilization because it manages an organized civilization, and lets people know where they belong. -The Babylonians had "An eye for an eye..." kind punishment. This means that whatever you've done to somebody, you get done to you in return. I think this is important in an organized civilization so that people will never again do wrong.
