Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (March 6,1475- February 18, 1564)
Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475. He is most famously known for his artwork.
The picture above is a scene from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
In addition to his work in the Sistene Chapel, Michelangelo also designed the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. Michaelangelo was best known for his paintings but also dabbled in architecture, poetry, engineering and sculpting. He was born on March 6, 1475 and died on February 18, 1564. He is considered by many to be the consumate Rennaissance man.
Michelangelo's most famous works include: David (left), Pieta (bottom right), the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (bottom left and top right).
