In the country of Bosnia-Herzegovina, during the 1990s, conflict between the three prominent ethnic groups- the Serbs, Croats, and Muslims, resulted in genocide.
The Bosnia Genocide: Before
The act that was occurring was the killing of Bosnian Muslims by the Serbs.
It all started when Yugoslavia was dismembered due to the fall of the U.S.S.R. and communist rule in the early 90s.
When Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, and Bosnia all gained their independence, Serbs occupying these countries became furious. The Serbs occupied mostly Bosnia, and refused to recognize themselves as one. The Yugoslav army, which was compsed of mainly Serbs, fought Croatia. After losing there, they turned their attention to Bosnia. They gained control nearly 75 percent of the country and this is where the genocide began.
