Rosa Vs Holdenr
Both Rosa and Holden were pulled out of their survival situations, Rosa being put in jail, Holden being put in a mental institution. Rosa was put back in hers and she was successful in completing her task. Holden’s story cuts off, leaving us to fill in the story on our own.
Both Rosa and Holden’s Brothers died, Holden’s at a young age, where as Rosa’s brother died when she was an adult. They both survived, but took the deaths in a different way. Some would say (and I agree) that Holden’s brother, Allie’s death was what caused him to become mentally ill. He was so young and isolated that he was never able to express his true feelings about his brother’s death. Rosa’s brothers death was different, though I’m not going to say death is fair, he got to live his life and die old. Rosa got to live with his company and support, always having someone to rely on when times were hard. Still both survived the deaths in a way that I don’t think I could have.
They were judged by the people in their societies for unfair reasons. The citizens believed life should live in such a way that everyone was judged if they were not like everyone else, including Holden and Rosa. They weren’t going to follow everyone else’s ways, they were going to change it and do what they believed was right. Their tactics were different, where Holden used his opinions on what he believed in, letting people know when he thought they were doing something wrong. He focused his changes on family and friends. Where Rosa wanted to change the world, she wanted to change the way everyone was treated, not just the ones close to her.
