People are leaving Ireland due to a large country-wide recession and taxes raising which is specifically hurting Ireland's economy causing it's young people to leave and look for better employment opportunities in other places.
You wonder, who and why are these people migrating and how does this effect Ireland?
Ireland
Net Migration to/from the UK 1998-2007 (In Thousands)
Well, young people in Ireland are struggling to find a job as 13% of adults in Ireland are unemployed. College students are planning as soon as possible to migrate to other countries after graduation. Two popular spots to go are Canada and Australia. There are lower crime rates, friendly people, european lifestyles, and more wealth in other countries, which attracts these citizens.
Because of the effects of immmigration, from 2003 to 2005, Ireland changed and eliminated an Irish-born child's automatic right to citizenship when the parents are not Irish Citizens theirself.
