I stand in a room full of circles, As always I’m the only square, They once formed a perfect image, Why’d I ruin the perfection here? Why aren’t we allowed to be different? People like me should belong, Just ‘cause our viewpoints are shifted, Does not mean we are wrong. The pain that I harbor so near, Is impossible to detect, I’ll never be a simple mirror, The type that can only reflect. So don’t laugh, for you are duller, Than a different duck like me, I am a rainbow of mismatched colours, Colours that always break free.
She stands in a room full of circles, We know she’s the only square, We once formed a perfect image, But she ruined the perfection here. Why can’t we just all be the same? People like her don’t belong, She should be bowing her head down in shame, Because all she believes in is wrong. I know different will always be bad, Unity will forever be praised, Oppress those cut from a different slab, Because that is how we were raised. So I scoff at the mismatched colours, Painted on faces like hers, I stare in disgusted wonder, For she’s only a flightless bird.
This is a poem that I wrote in two different perspectives. The poem is makes more sense if you read the larger brown bubble first, and then the smaller blue one. In both bubbles you have to scroll down, as the lenghthy stanzas didnt fit properly. The brown bubble is from the POV of a bystander observing the misfitting girl, while the blue is the POV of the misfit. This poem sends a message that it is okay to be different, and it is extremely wrong of people to 'Opress those cut from a different slab'. Comment your opinions, please! <3
