When they lay me down to rest, put my rope and spurs upon my chest, get my friends to carry me, and then go turn my horses free.
You live in hell? HA! I ride him everyday.
We got it, Cowboys want it, We know it COWGIRLS RULE!!!
Cowgirls don’t sit around waiting for cowboys, they just ride as hard as they can. Leave the boys in the dust, and when they stop, they brag to the ones that kept up about being able to ride like a girl. Then those who smile and agree get a chance to sit around until the cowgirl gives them a chance. Cowgirls don’t go chasing cowboys, cowboys chase the cowgirl. And if by some miracle one manages to catch up to her when she stops at a stream the real chance begins. Cowgirls are too strong to give in to defeat so easily, but if they don’t give up, they might just get a chance at the cowgirls heart. Cowgirls. Breaking hearts and breaking horses. Cowgirls don’t need no stinking cowboy. Yes, I ride like a girl. And I’m proud of it
The thrill, the speed, the challenge. The cowboys, the horses, the bulls, the barrels. The pain, the dust, the dirt, the hard times. I live for this. The heart in my throat, the shaky hands, the jittery stomach. The goin for it, the winnin, the losin, the sweat, the tears. I live for this. It's my life and I love it. I live for it every second of every day. The looks, the smiles, the good lucks, and tough luck. The bruises, the broken bones, the scuffs, the scars. I live for this. I live for the seconds at a time that I spend in the spot light. One horse, one cowgirl, three barrels, against a timer. No one can judge me for it. I live for this.
You can call me a redneck, hick, goat roper, or sheep herder, but I'm still better than you!
Come on boy I need you, I whispered as I drew my reluctant horse near, as I cried on his shoulder his muscles slowly relaxed, and he stood calm, letting me pour my worries into his mane. Now many years have passed. Friends have come and gone, family has drifted, but that old horse was always there. I went out into the morning cold and as I slid open the heavy barn door I felt the odd stillness in the air. I ran to his stall and there he lay, his breath shallow and coming hard. Quick I called to get the vet. When he came I showed him in, he checked the horse over, and said it was time. He kindly said I could wait outside if I liked. I nodded, tears forming in my eyes, but as I left the stall, that reluctant horse lifted his head. It took all his strength, but as he gazed at me he was trying to tell me, come on girl I need you. I wiped away my tears and went to his head. He layed his head in my lap and then he was gone. Every now and then when life gets tough, I look up to heaven and whisper those words again. Come on boy I need you.
Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway.
