Volleyball and Science
Newtons 1st law-This law says that Every object in a state of motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Newtons 2nd law-Newton's second law of motion explains how an object will change velocity if it is pushed or pulled upon. Newtons 3rd law-For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
How does Newton's laws apply to Volleyball? While you are holding the ball in your hands. Newton's 1 law is applied: Since the net force: gravity - lifting is zero. then the ball remains in rest and peace in your hands without moving.
when you throw the ball into the air, this time Newtons second law is applied. since the ball was resting and now its moving. this means the force is not equal to zero and throwing force minus gravity is greater than 0. which means the force is greater gravity.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In volleyball: The ball hits your hand just as hard as you hit the ball. to make the ball go where you want it to go you must hit it in the proper spot with the proper force.
