The Challenge
Epithet: Odysseus laughed within him that the son of crooked minded Cronus had flung that omen down.
Epic Simile: But the man skilled in all ways of contending, satisfied by the great bow's look and heft, like a musicsin, like a harper, when with quiet hand upon his instrument he draws between his thumb and forefinger a sweet new string upon a peg; so effortlessly Odysseus in one motion strung the bow. Then slid his right hand down the cord and plucked it, so the taut gut vibrating hummed and sang a swallow's note.
Epic Hero: Odysseus can show many ways of being an epic hero. In this episode he shows an epic hero because of his actions. One actions is that he can take what the suitors say about him as a beggar. They make fun and call him names. Another actions is when he out smarts all the suitors. He strings the bow and all the suitors are in aw. He shows that people can underestimate other people.
Plot: oddesus gets to ithica he finds his son and the god makes him an old guy and then his son is introduced to manly hood than he has to shoot the bow an arrow threw the 12 axes than he shoots all the other guys with the bow and telemaches helps kill them then oddesus reunites with penelope and she belives its him and then they live happy everafter.
Symbolism; The bow and arrow. I think it symbolises how Odysseus is the arrow and he has to go through my obsicles. The holes in the axes.
Conflict: the conflict in the challange is that the people are trying to take penelope from odesseus and they have to do what he did to get her.
Characterization: My hand and eye are sound, not so contemptible as the young men say.
