all night, on the black river? in the morning, rising into the silvery air -
Did you too see it,
Did you see it,
An armful of white blossoms
A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
Biting the air with its black beak?
fluting and whistling like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall
A shrill dark music,

And did you feel it,
finally, just under the clouds - streaming across the sky,
A white cross
Did you hear it,
Its feet
Like black leaves Like the stretching light of the river
Its wings
And did you hear it,
in your heart,
how it pertained to everything ?
Knifing down the black ledges ?
And have you finally figured out what is for? And have you changed your life?

They are such an enchanting creature! There is a huge lake close to my house that is visited each year by flocks of swans. We go annualy to see the graceful wonders! ~)o(~
