Charlie is a hero for Bella because he is a very hard working man and even though works a lot as a sheriff he doesn’t forget about his responsibility as a father to her. She admire his dad for years he spent his life alone since he and his wife divorce (Bella’s mom) and took care of himself. Bella moved to Forks in his dad place, so she could know more about his dad and take care of him in return for making her stay with him.
