Basketball was introduced to China five years after it was created in the 1890s.. The sport of basketall affects China economically as many foriegn companies help sponsor Chinese baskesketball teams. NIke has sponsored 24 Chinese national teams.

Basketball has given China an opportunity to strengthen its relationship with other ountries through a common interest. At the 2007 NBA China games, the audience was made up of people of all nationalities.

The Chinese Basketball Association or CBA has arranged official teams for Chinese basketball players. baed on state and province. These teams help provide young Chinese nationals with a chance to make a living through playing basketball. and since these teams are well funded, it raises the overall economy of China

Some teams have started hiring foriegn coaches due to the different styles of coaching. For example Beijing Aoshen hired Mila, a foreign coach frm Yugoslavia. This shows that basketball has influenced China to open up a bit to foreigners.

Culture in China is important and has changed due to basketball. China used to be quite isolated from the outside world, basketball has opened it up and allowed it to gain more economic growth.
