PLE (Personal Learning Evironment) helps learners manage their own learning. It provides support so learners can set their own goals, manage their learning both content and process and communicate with other in order to learn from each other. This way they can achieve their goals.
PLE can be composed of one or more subsystems that can be found as a desktop application, or a multipule web-based service. Important concepts of PLE include both formal and informal learning. Social networks can cross institutional boundaries that can connect to a range of resources and systems within personal space.
PLE is a new term. It’s the latest step in an alternative approach to e-learning. This can trace its origins to early systems The first peer-to-peer learning system is Colloquia.
I believe this will increase in popularity because it’s a good way to get information easily. Since it’s an application for a desktop icon it will be easy to find. There’s no telling if it will be popular in the futer so we’ll just have to wait and see.
