From Jaws to Star Wars the 70s encompassed a new age of high tech special effects and action scenes to draw the veiwers into the movie. The goal of most films were to inspire the mind into the endless possiblities of the imagination. Steven Speilberg is to the left.

Above is director George Lucas and above him is Al Pachino as the Godfather with the poster of the God Father to their left. The 1970s became less strict on ruleswhen it came to violence, sexuality, and language in the film industry. This helped the re-bith of films in the 1970s.

The main goal of the 70s in film waas to create youth oriented box officwe hits with speacial effects to keep the veiwer interestested throughout the whole movie. The average ticket price was $1.50 in the 1970s. Star Wars and Jaws were the first filme to earn $100 million dollars. On cable television the Home Box Office (HBO) channel was created. and people could now watch movies from their homes. The VHS/VCR and the Sony Betamax were in cmpetition to win the market for home movies. M*A*S*H started in 1971 as pre-recorded TV series. Below Harrison Ford as Hon Solo in Star Wars.
