Athena
There was once an amazing mortal weaver named Arachne. She became conceited about her talent and began to think she was a better weaver than Athena. She challenged Athena to a weaving competition. When Athena heard this, she was very angry. Athena disguised herself as an old lady with gray hair and a cane and hobbled to Arachne's house. Athena decided to weave a picture of the 12 greatest gods of Mt. Olympus, while Arachne didn't depict only the gods and goddesses, but their adventures. Even the goddess Envy said, 'There is no flaw.' When Athena heard this she was infuriated and tore up Arachne's tapestry. She started hitting Arachne until Arachne crawled away and tried to hang herself. She took a bit of pity on her and said, 'You may live, Arachne, but you will hang forever-and do your weaving in the air!' She then sprinkled the girl with hellbane and turned her into the first spider on earth. Therefore, spiders weave magnificent webs and they are classified in the group Arachnids, after Arachne.
Athena is most well known for being the goddess of wisdom.
I've got a great idea!
In Roman mythology, Athena is known as Minerva.
Athena invented the chariot, horse bits, the potter's wheel, music, olive trees, and vases.
Athena and Poseidon were competing to have a city honor them. They each had to give the city something that could help them. Athena gave them an olive tree to feed them. Poseidon chose to give them a fountain for water. Why didn't Poseidon win? Poseidon, being the god of the sea, had given the people of the city salt water. Therefore, the city was named Athens after Athena. Every summer there is a festival in honor of her. Ancient Greeks also built the Parthenon to worship her.
Athena's symbol is the owl.
Athena is also the goddess of crafts, commerce, medicine, warriors, weaving, and poetry.
Athena is the daughter of Zeus and Metis. Zeus thought their daughter would overpower him so he swallowed Metis to save himself from losing the throne. Athena was born from his head after he swallowed her mother. She became his favorite daughter.
