Persephone was abducted by Hades when she was picking flowers in a field with some nymphs. Her mother, Demeter, was extremely worried and turned the nymphs into Sirens for not saving her daughter. Helios, the sun, told her where her daughter is. Persephone married to Hades, making her the queen of the Underworld. For eight months of the year, Persephone reunites with her mother. During the other four, she resumes her position as queen of the Underworld. Without Persephone around, Demeter is filled with grief and is not able to make anything grow. This causes the change of the seasons.
