Gerald Ford 1913-2006
An American tragedy in which we all have played a part in.
Tell the truth, work hard, and come to dinner on time.
Before Presidency Gerald Ford was born on July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the University of Michigan where he played football. He received a degree in 1941 from Yale Law School. He practiced law from 1941-1942 before he joined the navy to fight in World War II. He left the navy and went back to practicing law. In 1949 he became a U.S. Representative. He was elected 12 times before becoming vice president. Following his term of being vice president, he became the president from 1974-1977.

After Presidency Ford retired to Rancho Mirage, California. He appeared frequently as a public speaker. He wrote books some about his presidential life. Bill Clinton Ford the Presidential Medal of Freedom in August 1999. Gerald Ford died December 26, 2006.
During presidencey Ford was the fisrt person to be vice president and president without being elected. The most signigicant event that Ford took place in was the pardoning of Nixon. Ford announced and amnesty program for dodgers and deserters of the Vietnam War era He requested 700 million dollars for military aid. It was rejected so he evacuated American allies. He escaped two assination attempts.
