The history of the telescope
Optical telescope: The Optial telescope is used to gather and focus light mainly from the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum. There are a total of three primary types of optical telescope: Refractors (Dioptrics), Reflectors (Catoptrics), and Combined Lens-Mirror Systems (Catadioptrics).
High energy particle telescopes: High-energy astronomy requires specialized telescopes to make observations since most of these particles go through most of the metals and glasses. X-ray telescopes use Wolter telescopes. Gamma-ray telescopes refrain from focusing completely and use coded aperture masks
The history behind the telescope: The idea for the telescope was made by a man named Hans Lippershey who was an eye doctor. The idea came about around 1608. As time went on Galieo made some modifications and called it the Telescope a device he used for looking at space.
Important discoveries made by the telescope: 1. The Hubble Space Telescope- was able to observe ultraviolet and infrared light that is blocked by the atmosphere of the other planets. 2. discovered that their are dark spots on the sun that we call sunspots 3.10th planet discovered- discovered on July 29, 2005. 4. Saturn was found having a new moon, This is now Saturn's 61 st moon.. 5. was discovered that the earth revolves around the sun and not vise visa.
