HIV/AIDS
General Background Information * Around 33 million people worldwide are HIV positive. * Each year about 2.7 million people are infected with HIV. * Each year 2 million people die of AIDS.
Cause * AIDS is caused by HIV. * HIV/AIDS is vastly growing due to many people being uneducated about how it can spread. * Certain groups of people have faced prejudice, such as gays and drug users since they are high to contract HIV.

Transmission * Someone who can infected with HIV if they come into contact with the bodily fluids of someone who has HIV. * HIV can spread by sex, injecting drugs, and by being born with it.
Signs & Symptoms * It is hard to tell when someone has HIV unless they are frequently ill and have been tested HIV positive.
Complications * HIV is very dangerous because it affects your immune system wich helps you to fight off other infections. * AIDS is usually the last stage of HIV and is an extreme condition since it greatly damages your immune system.
Treatments * HIV/AIDS is not curable, but doctors have found ways of treating the infection with medicines to slow the virus.
Incubation Period * It may take a couple of years to feel the full affects of the infection because HIV damages your immune system gradually.
Solution * What we can do as a society to solve this problem, is educate each other about the dangers of HIV/AIDS and make sure the youth knows about safe sex.
