Mars, the red planet, is named after the Roman god of war. Mars is the fourth and the last of the inner planets. One year on Mars is 687 Earth days. Mars is the second smallest planet in the solar system. Mars is about half the size of Earth. A day on Mars is 24 hours and 37 minutes long. Mars atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide and mars has a very thin atmosphere. Mars can have dust storms that last for months and Mars has ice at the poles from frozen carbon dioxide. Mars survice looks like it their were river channels. Mars has two small moons Phobos and Deimos. Phobos means fear in roman and Deiomos means panic. The moons are only 17 miles across.
Venus is the 2nd planet from the sun. Venus is named after the Roman god of love and beauty. Venus is nicknamed Earths twin. The both are about the same size and they both have thick atmosphere. A day on Venus is 243 Earth days long! A day on Venus is longer than its year. Their are many volcanoes in Venus and one called Maxwell Montes is two times the size of Mount Everest. Venus atmosphere is 3% nitrogen and about 96% carbon dioxide. The atmospheric pressure is 90 times greaqter then Earths. At Venus it rains sulfuric-acid rain whitch can melt metal.
The earth is the third closest planet and is the planet that we know most about. Earth is known as the blue planet because 70% of all of Earth is water. The earth has sesons because of the tilt of its axis. 78% of earths atmosphere is nitrogen and 21% is oxygen and the rest 1% is many different types. Earth only has one moon. The moon orbits earth every 29.5 days. The moon reflects light from the sun and that is how we get our light. We are at the perfect distence from the sun because if we were venus all of the water will evaperate and if we were mars all the water will freeze. We live in the perfect spot in the Univers to live.
Mercury is the first planet in the solar system and is the first of the inner planets. Mercury speeds around the sun at about 107,000 mph. mercurys year is 88 earth days. It takes Mercury 59 earth days to spin around once. Mercury was named after the fast Roman god Mercury. Mercury is the smallest planet. Mercutys survice is alot like the moon it has a bumby tecture and looks like lots of things have crashed into it.
