Plate Tectonics
The plate tectonic theory is that the earths outer layer is divided into diffrent plates. And they belive they have been moving throughtout time. Which was the theory of Pangaea.
no one nows what makes plate tectonics move. but sientists belive that the the convection from the earths mantle pushes the plates to move. another theory is that the ocean floor is hevier and flows beneath the continental crust like u saw in the video.
The scientists that contributed to the Plate Tectonic theory are , Alfred Wegener, Harry Hess and many more.
Continental Drift
The Earth's crust is actually divided into large chunks called plate tectonics. These plates are moving on the layer of the Earth called the mantle. These plates are from 50 to 250 miles thick.
In 1960 Harry Hess sugested Sea-floor spreading is when the ocean floor expands when two plates move apart. As the plates move apart, the rocks break and form a crack between the plates. Earthquakes occur along the plate edge. Magma rises through the cracks and comes out onto the ocean floor like a lundersea volcano.
