Need a Summer Job?
For my weekly blogs all the information is NOT found by professionals only me and my opinions
Getting your first job will be great, but paying taxes wont. Instead of getting a job working for someone else try working foryourself!
Things you can do in your neighborhood!
Housesit!
Babysit!
Walk Dogs!
Mow Lawns!
Tutor kids!
My favorite way to make money is to Baby sit! Its really easy and you make alot of money plus you always come out with a new friend. To get your Baby sitting career going make flyers and bring them to all your neighbors or put them onpoles so everyone can see them. The most important part about babysitting is rates; you should always charge at least $5-$10 an hour or your getting underpaid. Depending on how many kids you are watching you could always charge $3-$7 an hour but i think its always easy to just charge by the hour and not worry how many kids you are watching. If your flyers arnt working go to sittercity.com or try craigslist.com where moms or sitters post how thay can help or how you can help them.
During the summer most families or couples are always on vacation so before any one gets to them go and let them know you'll be free to watch their house all summer if you have to. The best part a bout hous sitting is you get unlimited T.V, food, possibly computer usage and your not getting made to clean your room by your parents. Rates for house watching can be different every time, if your justwatching the house charge $20+ a night, but your also taking care of the animals it should be no less then $30 a night.
Mowing Lawns Can earn you alot of money because its hard work. The people you really want to target for this job is the elderly, they are just to old and cant afford to pay professionals so instead give em your number. For mowing lawns rates depend on the size buy no yard is under $20. If you have your own mower make sure you add some more money to the bucket so you can for the gas.
Walking dogs is always good. Your getting your daily exersise and you wont look weird walking around by yourself. Last summer when i walked dogs i charged $5 for every 10 min and and an additional $3 for any other dogs. So if you walk 3 dogs for an hour your making $36.
Tudoring kids is always fun esspecialy if you enjoy the topic you are teaching. To some parents catching up on school work in the summer is very important so help them out and give their kids a lesson. If you are going to tudor someone it is very important that you schose someone younger then you so cant mess up! :) Depending on the age of the rates differ. If the kid is 5th grade under dont go any higher then $15 an hour because it will be to easy for you!
