the begining. . .
Robbie. Finally. “Where have you been?” I asked after he had removed his hand. “Around, now shush!” he was already slinking through the trees, with the white stripe of his belt shining in the light of the moon. I precariously followed, stepping in and out of the shadows.
I peered into the shadows, he wasn’t here yet. Where was he? A rustle in the shrubbery behind me made me jump. Just a rabbit, just a rabbit. “Why did I get myself into this?” I asked no one in particular. “Shhhhhhhh! They will hear you,” a hand was clapped over my mouth.
“Robbie?” I whispered into the night. “Right here Viv,” he said from behind me. I was lifted and carried though the air, the wind blowing back my hair. Then I heard them. Growling of unhappy dogs, and the commands of their masters.
“Vivian, whatever you do, don’t turn around,” Robbie panted. He was running at top speed, and not slowing down anytime soon. When the police were hot on your heels, there was no chance we were slowing. I clung to Robbie with every ounce of strength in me. I turned to look into his eyes. “Robbie,” I started, “Robbie, I love you. No matter what you did, whether you are innocent or not, whether we get out of this alive, I love you.” He looked down and smiled the smile that every girl lives to see, but I may not live to see it again.
