Digital Light Processing
How Does it Work? A DLP projector uses a digital micromirror device, which is a small, rectangular device made of microscopic mirrors, that are used to make the picture. Depending on the light or darkness of the pixels the mirrors point toward or away from the projection lens. Most DLP's have a spinning multicolored wheel, which adds color.
Advantages DLP's are much brighter than other tevlevion options, which means that a DLP will perform mush better under poor lighting situtations. Also DLP televisions can achieve deeper, more realistic shadows and blacks, so that brightly lit rooms will not wash out the color.
Disadvantages When watchng a DLP television the best picture can viewed when at eye level. If viewed from above or below eye level the picture may not be as good, which restricts the viewer from watching the television from any angle. The average lifespan of the light sorce produced by the television is only 10,000 hours.
Price Price Range $500- $1700; depends on the namebrand.
