The cathode ray tube , also known as CRT, is a vacuum tube containing an electron gun, which is the source of electrons, .and a fluorescent screen, with internal or external means to accelerate and deflect the electron beam, used to form images in the form of light emitted from the fluorescent screen. The image may represent electrical waveforms, pictures, radar targets, and others. The single electron beam can be processed in such a way as to display moving pictures in natural colors.

Disadvantages The CRT uses an evacuated glass envelope which is large, deep, heavy, and relatively fragile. It has been claimed that the electromagnetic fields emitted by CRT monitors constitute a health hazard, and can affect the functioning of living cells. The constant refreshing of a CRT can cause headaches and seizures in epileptics. Screen filters are available to reduce these effects. A high refresh rate also helps to negate these effects.
Advantages The over all pricing of the CRT is much lower compared to other television options.
Price $100- $1,500
