Living life in a dream Moving through as though looking in on someone else Watching and feeling through a layer of glass Blurred and numb People can barely scratch the surface What if you don’t want to let them in They don’t feel what you feel Experiences and emotions bouncing off the interior of my soul Begging to be released in a swift pull Just a slide across the wrist is all it takes To wake me from my day time daze Exuberant feelings leaking from the slice The blade whispering to me Taunting me Asking for more I lay in bed ashamed of what’s to come This is me If I sleep If I dream If I scream A blade is near To save me from my fears And everything else that is sure to come Waiting, wanting, near.
