Charles Albanel
He explored for France. The country he explored was Canada. The purpose of Albanel’s voyage was to discover whether the Northern Sea was indeed Hudson Bay and to see if there were any Europeans.
Charles Albanel was born on 1616 in Auvergne, France. He was a explorer, Jesuit priest, and missionary.
On another journey to Canada, he was captured by the English, taken to England and then taken to France.
Charles voyaged 1 year. English Hudson Company began operations when he was the leader of the France party.
Route of Voyage
The France party went to Saguenay River, Mistassini Lake and the Rupert River to Hudson Bay.
When he returned to Canada in 1676, he did missions in the western Canada.
It is unkown if he did any trading with the First Nations
He died at Sault Ste. Marie on 11 Jan 1696 when he was 80. How he died is still unknown.
