Alcohol Impairment is caused by consuming too much alcohol. It reduces the ability to to operate machinery and drive. Alcohol impairment is measured in Blood Alcohol Content or BAC. This involves the amount of alcohol circulating in the blood stream. Alcohol impairment begins with the first drink. The more you drink, the more impaired you become. Once your alcohol level reaches 0.04%, your driving skills have become significantly affected. The only way to reduce alcohol level is to wait. Drinking and driving is a bad combination.

A 150 pound man will have a BAC of .04% after only 2 drinks. At this stage, he would already be seriously impaired. At this level, his voluntary eye movement has become impaired. In airplane simulators, pilots that have a BAC of .025% have been shown to have reduced abilities to safely operate the aircraft.
BAC is affected by many factors. The Level of impairment is different for both males and females. Weight is a major factor in how much you are impaired. It is also affected by the amount that you drink.
