Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year 1/26/2009 At chinese new year, families gather together to eat and share moments with other. Many people in Beijing will decorate the town beautifully with their decorations, at night lights will be lit everywhere from across the town. Chinese New Year is one of the most speical days out of all other chinese festivals. Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese. Food mostly eaten in this speical day are dumplings, madarin/oranges, melon seeds, Chinese New Year Pudding, Noodles and Sweets.

Mooncake/Mid-Autumn Festival Mooncake Festival is the 2nd most important festival other than Chinese New Year is celebrated by eating mooncakes outside under the moon when it shines the brightest, carrying brightly lit lanterns, lighting lanterns on towers and floating sky lanterns, planting Mid-Autumn trees, collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members and doing fire dragon dances. Legends say there was once 10 suns circling the moon, the Earth was heating and so the king orderd Houyi, the greatest archer to shoot down the other 9 suns. After taking down the 9 suns a goddess granted him an elixer, if drank, it will give invincibility. Although her wife Chang'e stoled the elixer and drank it. Then she was abbandoned to the moon where the sun shines the brightest.
