Egyptians
Hieroglyphics- Egyptian's system of writing. Each hieroglyph represents a common object in ancient Egypt. Hieroglyphs could represent the sound of the object or they could represent an idea associated with the object. Ancient Egypt used more than 2,000 hieroglyphic characters.
Dynasty/Empire- Earliest form of government ; quintessential example of a hydraulic empire. It was one of the oldest, and the longest, human civilizations.
The Sphinx- was an image of the sun god ; It is 240 feet long and faces the rising sun. Protector of the pyramids and scourge of the enemies of Re, the Sphinx was a popular motif/design in Egyptian art and architecture.
Egyptians are also believed to have invented the idea with the right angle, and in turn the Pythagorean theorem. This concept is one of the fundamental teachings of the Egyptian mystery school. It is reflected in the designs of the ancient Egyptian pyramids, which were initiated centuries before the birth of Pythagorus.
