I signed a bill on June 30th, 1864 that allowed Yosemite for public use; on October 1st,1890, Yosemite officially became a national park

About 3.2 million people visit Yosemite-only 5% actually leave the valley floor
The Ahwahneechee,Paiute, and Sierra Miwok were the first people to live at Yosemite, until around the mid-1800's when the Europeans came and then white settlers started to take over, especially when the Gold Rush came into play.

They started ''prescribed fires'', which helps the forest by opening the forest canopy, reduce tree density, alter tree spacing+species composition,&remove litter+duff; In meadows, prescribed fire is used to reduce conifer encroachment, maintain native plant communities,&reduce hazardous fuels around communities.
