Frederick Douglas was the best speaker, abolitionist, and writer of his time. He started his life Febraury 1818 on Holmes Hill Farm in Maryland as a slave. He had a lot of masters but one of his masters taught him even though it was illegal he was one of the lucky ones. As a slave he was taught to detest slavery and on September 3, 1838 he had decided to runaway and while running he changed his name from Frederick Bailey to Frederick Douglas. He also became friends with another abolitionist named William Lloyd Garrison and he worked with him in making the newspaper called the Liberator and he worked with him for 10 years. Fredrick Douglass ended his life he supported the abolisment of slavery in other countries, women's suffrage, and the Klan act during reconstruction arresting more than 5000 klan members.

Federick Douglass was a slave before the war, and abolitionist during the war, and after the war he fought for African Americans rights in other countries. Also during that time he fought for women's suffrage in other countries. He never stop until everbody was equal
