Wicca itself saw many schisms, some drawing from shamanistic traditions, those of the Druids and the ceremonial magick Crowley loved so much. And while the counter culture of the 60s and the beginning of the New Age movement did not start this movement per se, they definitely lubricated its further development. And while there is no conclusive evidence of Witchcraft and Neo-paganism having existed consistently throughout history without any interruption, the similarities in the perception of reality, the reverence of nature and the uses of high and low, sympathetic and imitative magic and Goddess worship, between pre-Christian witchcraft and modern day neo-paganism are amazing. If anything, it is remarkable to see how it has come full circle over the span of hundreds and hundreds of years.
