Why were slaves important for the economy? They helped to harvest cash crops, such as cotton, rice, tobacco and indigo. The Government also made money on them by imposing on slave transactions.
What type of jobs did slaves do? They picked crops out in the field, they cleaned their master's house, they cooked meals for their master's. They did whatever they were told to do by their master.
How do you think the slaves felt about their situation? I think they were mad about it. They had families in Africa and had freedom. Then they were captured and taken to America to be beaten and worked to hard.
Why was slavery wrong? Slavery was wrong because people had and still have the right to determine their own destiny and improve their lives by their own efforts. If we go strictly by might is right rule, then we've learned nothing in the thousands of years that the human race has existed.
What alternatives to slavery were there? I really don't know of any alternatives besides the people working a little harder and asking Native Americans maybe to help.
