Above is a comic strip called Calvin and Hobbes. This particular comic is Calvin, the little boy, using his imagination to become a dinosaur and destroy the grocery store while his mother shops. This is funny because of what his mom says and because he is destroying a grocery store. The humor in the comic is really a hyperbole because he is definitely over exagerating by seeing himself as a dinosaur.
Below is a comic strip called Pinkerton. It depicts two animals trying to imitate the famous sled jump that calvin and hobbes from another comic strip do. This is funny because they are making fun of another comic strip which was humorous in its own respect. This comic uses something like a visual pun. You can see the classic Calvin and Hobbes scenario but it's two different characters. They also crashed which is funny.
