PIZZA TIME!!!Out of three different pizzas witch pizza is the healthiest?
Background Research:In America obesity is a huge problem, especially for children and youth. Millions of young people are eating too many unhealthy snacks like pizza. Pizza is a very common snack food in America. Below are some different facts about pizza and some nutrition facts for a few different types of pizzas. “Many school districts have negotiated exclusive contracts with fast food and beverage companies to provide their products to students, with a portion of the revenues going to the schools. As a result, cafeteria and vending machine lunches commonly include pizza, burgers, chips, soda, candy, and ice cream" (Kepos, 2011).“Whether pizza is healthy or not is really determined by the quality of ingredients used and the choice of cheese – full fat or skim milk. Most pizzas are high in saturated fat, salt and calories. If you are eating a balanced diet and have an active lifestyle, pizza is probably ok for you. If you are overweight, do not have a healthy lifestyle, and have any significant health issue, pizza is probably not good for you, but you should always consult your doctor" (Melcombe, 2008).Here are most of the nutrition facts for a frozen Pizza Hut margarita pizza. There are 1.9g of fiber in this pizza. There are also 292 calories, which is good for many kids. There are 9.5 grams of total fat and 0 grams of sugars. There are only 14.2g of protein, which is not too good. To know more click on the links in the Works Cited page. Let's look at some more nutrition facts for other pizzas. Here are some of the nutrition facts for a Freschetta margarita pizza. There are 2g of fiber in this pizza, and the total amount of calories for this pizza is 390, making this pizza high in calories and low in fiber, and therefore not the best choice for kids. There are 15g of total fat and 15g of protein in this pizza, which is also not too good. Finally, there are 4g of sugars which not so bad. Listed below are some of the nutrition facts for a Kashi pizza. In this pizza there are 4g of fiber, 260g of calories and 9g of total fat. There are also 4g of sugars and 14g of protein. To me this pizza seems pretty healthy but is it the healthiest?
Abstract:My project is mostly focused on two things: obesity and nutrition. In our country pizza is a very popular snack food and hundreds of thousands of people, including children, eat a lot of pizza. So for my project I am going to see which of three pizzas is the healthiest. Will it be the Kashi pizza, the Freschetta pizza, or the Pizza Hut pizza? My procedure includes a few simple steps. First, I will buy three frozen pizzas all different brands. Next, I will record and compare the nutrition facts for the pizzas. Finally, I will be able to determine which pizza is the healthiest. Hopefully my research can help people understand that if they want to eat pizza they should eat healthy pizza, and my research will show which pizza is the healthiest.
SCROLL DOWN
Hypothesis: My hypothesis is that there will be at least one or two pizzas that will be healthier than the others on the market.
Variables:I.V: The different types of pizzas.D.V: The nutrition facts.Control: The pizzas.Constants: The pizzas.
Procedure:1.First I will buy three frozen pizzas all different brands. 2.Next I will record the nutrition facts for the pizzas on a data table. 3.Finally I will be able to determine which pizza is the healthiest. Materials:Three different pizzas, and a data table.
Conclusion:My purpose in conducting this experiment was to take three different margarita pizzas and compare some important nutrition facts. My hypothesis was that one or more of the pizzas would be the healthiest. However, the data in the data table show that only one of the pizzas was the healthiest, and that was the Kashi pizza. I noticed that according to the nutrition facts that were listed in the table above, most of Kashi’s nutrition was the healthiest. Kashi was lower in calories and fat, and higher in fiber than the other pizzas, making it the best choice for kids.
