Endocrine & Urinary System
The urinary system is set of organs producing urine in human beings, comprised chiefly of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. *The Kidney* -The kidneys are a filter for the blood. The body has two kidneys and the blood is pumped from the heart to the kidneys to be cleaned. *Bladder* -The bladder is where urine is stored to be released from the body. It can hold between one half to two cups of urine before it needs to be emptied. *Urethra * -The urethra is a tubular organ that transports urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. *Ureter* -The ureters are tubular organs that lead from the renal pelvis of the kidney to the bladder.
Urinary
Adults pass about a quart and a half of urine each day, depending on the fluids and foods consumed Normal urine is sterile. It contains fluids, salts and waste products, but it is free of bacteria, viruses and fungi.
An urinary tract can cause bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near the rectum or in the vagina which can spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Once these bacteria enter the urethra they travel upwards causing infection in the bladder and sometimes other parts of the urinary tract.
