Potatoes are a big part of Irish culture. in 1845 a disease blight rotted all the potato crops. This caused the farmer to not only starve but also unable to sell these crops for money. This was called the black days and lastedb tilll 1852. The Irish people never gave up and have proven to be great surviviors.
