This is a maori carving. Some carvings represent maori gods and ancestors. They are usually made out of rimu,totora and kauri. the eyes are made out of paua shells.

The black represents the sky and the heavens(rangi), the red represents the earth and begining of life, and the white is the life as we know it (past, present and future)

Southwell school is a school for ages 4-13. you can bord at the school or you can be a day student. We have specialised subjets and we take our sport seriuosley. The school stared in 1911 and it brought girls in at 2000
