Pine cone trees have flour different types of leaves: 1. Seed Leaves 2. Juvenile Leaves 3. Scale Leaves 4. Needles Many pine species make attractive ornamental plantings for parks and larger gardens. Pines are also grown as Christmas trees.
Pine trees exist almost all over the world, execpt the deserts and some tropical islands.The seeds of the pine trees are commonly eaten by birds and squirrels.
Pine trees are resinous and evergreen, growing to 3–80 m tall, with the majority of species reaching between 15-45 m tall. They have needles and cones, but no flowers or fruit. Both male and female cones grow on the same trees. They grow well in acid soils, some also on lime. A few are able to sprout after forest fires.
Pines are long-lived, typically reaching ages of 100–1,000 years, some even more. The oldest pine cone tree in the world is 4,840 years old and it is one ofthe oldest living organisms in the world.
