Yesterday afternoon an angry mob of around 600 Parisians attacked perhaps one of the largest symbols of our King's power, the Bastille. As we all know, King Louis XVI has raised our taxes once again, to make up for the Thirteen Colony's war against Britain, as he says. Though his wife, our Queen, Marie Antoinette has surely worsened our fate with her lavish spending on luxuries we can only dream of.

As we all know, recently, The Estates General meeting was held for the first time in 170 years, and our group of people representing the Third Estate swore the Tennis Court Oath, in a rather impromptu decision to not go into the meeting hall. We are not going to let the clergy and nobility rule our lives anymore; we are going to take charge of our own destiny, and we will not run away.

Everyone seems to blame our famine on Marie Antoinette. Though I agree that her excessive spending on luxuries is not helping our situation, she is not the only one to blame. I believe that most all of the clergy, nobles, and royalty are to blame. - anonymous
