Hamlet Gone Mad?
The Harcourt Star
After hearing the other interviews with King Claudius, Queen Gertrude, and Polonius, you must be aching to see Hamlet's so-called madness. Well, here's your chance! We're giving you all the exclusive details from our interview with Prince Hamlet!
cont.
Q – I’m sure you have heard the rumours. What are your thoughts on the matter? A – Thoughts? I have no thoughts. For thoughts are horrible, dreadful things. They can make a well-respected man look like a fool; a beautiful woman into a vile, lying creature. Thoughts caused my good father to die while peacefully asleep in his garden. I have no thoughts. Q – We are very sorry for your loss, Hamlet. Is it true that you are going to England on a voyage? When are you expected to leave? A – Ah voyages. I once met a good fishmonger on a voyage. He was a very honest man. It is hard to find in these dark times, honesty. Are you honest? Do you find your wife to be honest? Is she beautiful? If she is beautiful, then she cannot be honest. The power of beauty soon turns whatever honesty a woman possesses into dust. Q – Um…How is your relationship with King Claudius? Did your relationship with your mother A – change after the death of King Hamlet and her marriage with his brother, your uncle? Have you ever seen a snake? There is one in the castle! It slithers in the halls, and sits himself on the throne! It preys on nave victims; they don’t realize they are being preyed upon, willingly walking into its grasp.
Q – Okay Hamlet, this is our last question. We heard that you were interested in Ophelia, Polonius’ daughter. Have you seen her lately? What is your relationship? A – Women are lying, deceitful beings. They take the face that was given to them, and paint over it to become someone completely different. Only fools do not know how women change them to monsters. The ‘fair’ Ophelia is going to a nunnery.
Hamlet refused a photo shoot, but here are a few pictures we sneaked!
Wow. Did any of those answers make sense to you? Us, niether! A snake in the castle? Ophelia in a nunnery? We HAVE to find out if Hamlet is telling the truth, or really has gone mad! What a confusing character. No wonder the other interviewees seemed so confused!
Ooh! Looks like we caught a private moment between Ophelia and Hamlet!
These are some pretty intense pictures! Hamlet is obviously in his own world.
