Age and Youth 'I know what a misery being young can be, so don't tell me it's so great'(117). Morrie realizes that youth isn't as wonderful as our culture would lead us to believe. Therefor he teaches that age should be embraced and not fought. 'If you're always battling against getting older, you're always going to be unhappy, because it will happen anyhow'(118).
Tuesdays with Morrie
Status, Wealth, and Power Through out this course you will learn how love and friends are more important than money and power. 'You can't substitute material things for love or for gentleness or for tenderness or for a sense of comradeship'(125). Morrie will show you that having a job that is fufilling is much more important than having one that pays a lot and that material possesions will never replace friends.
Love, Marriage and Conflict Morrie has been married for forty-four years and is very qualified to teach a course on marraige and love. He will show one that 'love always wins'(40) but that there will be problems with a relationship if one doesn't share the same values with there partner. 'Here are a few rules I know to be true about love and marriage: If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble'(149).
