Animal Farm In Chapter 5, Napoleon and Snowball were disagreeing in the laboring hours and type of work. Snowball wanted a three day working week but Napoleon wanted to work every day. Snowball also wanted to create a windmill which would make electricty, decreasing the amount of work. Napoleon differed and said that would take too much work and time. The famr animals were divided equally between the two. Then Napoleon made a high pitched call to the puppies he had trained. The puppies attacked Snowball, driving him out of the farm forever.
Chapter 5 in Animal Farm relates to the Russian Revoltuion. Napoleon, the pig, represent Stalin in the Russian Revolution. Stalin won the spot as leader in Russia. Snowball corresponded to Trotsky, who was driven off out of power also. The puppies paralleled to the Secret Police in Russia, who obeyed Stalin.
This is a picture of the Russian people that followed the leader of the country. The believed the propaganda told to them and obeyed the laws of the country, just like the animals did with the farm. "The animals were not sure what the word meant, but Squealer spoke so persuasively, and the three dogs who happened to be with him growled so threateningly, that they accepted his explanation without further question." (Page 58)
This is a picture of the Secret Police during the Russian Revolution. They would dress as ordinary people, then catch you if you were saying something bad about the leader or country. These people were represented by the dogs in Animal Farm. " But suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep, menacing growls, and the pigs fell silent and sat down again." (Page 54) The animals were always threatened by Napoleon and his own secret police.
