THE BETRAYAL OF NATALIE HANGROVE By Emma Borch
About the Author and the Book
Lauren Kate was born in Dalas. She has written five outstanding books. The books Fallen (published December 8, 2009), Torment (published September 28, 2010), Passion (to be published June 14, 2011) and her newest book Rapture (which should be published in the Spring of 2012) are all part of the series called Fallen. On the 27th of December 2009, Fallen was named number five on the New York Times best seller list., however now it is number 1. Interestinly, she aspires to work in a restaurant kitchen, get a few dogs, and learn how to surf. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband. The Betrayal of Natalie Hangrove is her 5th book. It is the only one in the series so far but a new edition will be released on the same day as the paperback edition of Torment. The book is about a girl called Natalie Hangrove who worked her way to the top of Pameletto HIgh. She seemed to have everything, popularity, a boyfriend and a rich family but the only thing that mattered to her was winning the crown. Her life goes down hill went she decided to play a prank on an equally popular boy Justin Balmer which goes terribly wrong.
Shivers go down my spine every time the name Natalie is mentioned. I hate that girl with a passion. Her devious stares and cheap strategies are what ruined my life. Students used to part like the red sea when I walked down the crowded halls of Pameletto High. I have become a trend now, something that is ‘last season’, tossed aside like old clothes. Rumors swiftly spread around school saying that Natalie Hargrove accidentally killed one of Pamelletto High’s most treasured students, Justin Balmer. My version of the story is slightly different. Icicles hung from the top of the deserted church. Trees danced to the rhythm of the wind. Uncertainty swam ithrough the thick midnight air. J.B sat helplessly tied to a tree in the churchyard awaiting his fate. I sat down next to him and let the rain slowly fall on to my face. I glanced at his vulnerable face when the idea emerged into my brain. I realised there is one way to ruin her life. Kill him. Blame her.
