There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom
PLOT
''There's a boy in the girls' bathroom'' is a book about a boy called Bradley Chalkers who had an extremely bad reputation but with the help of the school's counsellor he managed to become a happier and better person. Bradley Chalkers was coasting through school, sitting in the last row, last seat, fighting at home, disripecting teachers and being mean to students. He felt he could only relate to his imaginary friends and never bothered to try anything. A new boy Jeff comes to school and attemps to make friends with Bradley but discovers that Bradley could not be less interested. After a while, Bradley's Mum attends a teacher parent consultation and is advised to send Bradley to the school's counsellor. Carla, the school counsellor, was the one person that cared about Bradley and listened to his far-fetched stories. She told him about her life and opened up to him but never expected much back or pushed him to do anything he didn't want. She found ways to get Bradley to want to do things he thought he did not want to do, for example, homework. Bradley finally lets his guard down to Carla but when Carla is fired Bradley has to try and live life on his own with all the advice Carla had given him. This story is about a boy who could easily change but was too afraid to try. . .
MY VIEWS
I think that ''There's a boy in the girls' bathroom'' is good book but lacks cliff hangers and excitment. The moral of the story is that people can change if they are not afraid to try. Louis Sachar made that point very clearely but could have improved the plot line to make it more exciting and interesting. I found the book very stange and a bit sad as the boy, Bradley, can only relate to his imaginary toys who also lead unusual lives. However I did enjoy the book in some ways as it ade me laugh and taught me about why people behave in some ways. There was also a strong relationship between Carla and Bradley which was interressting and Louis Sachar never repeat himself and the book never dragged on. In comparison to the book ''Holes'' that Louis Sachar also wrote, ''There's a boy in the girls' bathroom'' is less clever and moving. I would reccommend the book 'There's a boy in the girls' bathroom'', and I also would recommend the author Louis Sachar in general as he has written many other funny and clever books.
