slice all waste placed into the compost pile toDifferent layers in a compost bin can fasten the process of decomposing if done correctly. Good things to layer in between your compost are usually green in colour. An example would be grass clippings or leaves or manure. Brown objects however must be carefully considered such as twigs or branches that slow down the decomposing and add unwanted pests. make sure for the fastest decomposing time. Creating diffrent layers
Aerating allows compost to decompose faster and because only the top is usually open to the most oxygen it is highly recommended that the compost be turned or mixed frequently. Many say that three times a week is the right amount of time turnovers should occur but recent studies have shown that once a week is as sufficient.
Oxygenation
Adding moisture to dry compost helps waste decompose. This also allows more oxygen to be held in the compost. Make sure that the compost is not over flooded with water! This will not help speed up the decomposing process.
Adding Moisture
Worms especially red worms placed in composting bins act as a catalyst because worms help break down the compost further, making it easier for fungi and bacteria.
Catalyst
Carbon and Nitrogen ratios added to compost allow the bacteria and fungi in the compost to create energy source (Carbon) and create protein synthesis (Nitrogen). The ratio for carbon, nitrogen should be about 30:1. To avoid unwanted pests and odor one needs to be sure to put a sufficient amount of nitrogen, following the ratio. In contrast if sufficient nitrogen is not given to the compost, the composting process may slow down.
