SAFE DRIVING
And all I had to do was put down my cell phone.
Statistics show that most accidents are caused by distractions, so that means that most accidents are preventable. All you need to do is put down your cell phone, turn down your stereo, and put away the curling iron.. Are we really so vain as to risk our life for a few curls?
3000 people die per year in Canda of traffic accidents. Don't let yourself become a statistic. Be a safe driver,.
Many people are afraid of driving, and they have very good reason to be. Vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in Canada, and accidents are caused by distractions. What does this mean? It means that if we did put our curling irons, mascara, Blackberries and cell phones away, we could be SAVING lives. This is no small matter. Why do you think the song ''Last Kiss'' was written?
So how can we become better, safer drivers? - LIMIT your distractions. This means telliing your reckless friend that his headbanging music is not suited for driving, and putting your phone away, even if your girlfriend is threatening to break up with you. - MODERATE your speed. This means that you should always be aware of the legal limit, but also that you should be aware of your surrounding dirvers' speeds. If everyone is driving snail-paced, you should too, because of not you are going to rear-end someone, but if everyone is Mario Andretti, you should speed up a little bit, because otherwise you will be the one getting rear-ended.
- BE AWARE of your weather conditions. Sure the speed limit says 50, but when there happenes to be that many feet of snow on the ground, that 50 is significantly less. - DO NOT listen to music with your headphones in. A: it's so stupid, it's actually quite fantastic.. B: how are you supposed to BE AWARE when you cannot hear?? Driving requires all your senses front and center.
DUI Driving Under the Influence is one of the most serious offences you can do while on the road. It jeopardizes everyone's life around you, and is one of the leading causes of death in vehicle crashes.
Here is an example of why we should not drive drunk, and why we should pay attention to the current weather conditions.
