The Trinagle Trade (How the Africans Were Traded)
Triangle trade was the of trade that helped bring slaves to the Americas and to stimulate the econmy of Europe. First industrial goods from Europe were brought to Africa to trade for slaves. The slaves were then sent to the Americas on ships. They would then work in the Americas and create more goods that were brought back to Europe to be traded again and again.. Then the cycle begins all over agian
Conditions on the Ship
Conditions were rough for the slaves on the ship, they were smashed together be able to bring more slaves in. Each slave was shackled to the ground and were given what they needed to survive the 60 to 90 day trip. Some slaves even tried to kill themselves by escaping and jumping in the ocean. The mortality rate for the slaves was thirteen percent. Ussually the slaves that survived the longest and who were still in good phyiscal shape were sold for more money
Some effects of the trade were depopulation in Africa leading to warfare, loss of money and wealth, and the down fall of many villages. Some good effects were spreading of African culture to the Americas and an increase in the European economy.
Long Term Effects
