What is a good science question?
The professionals think: The word ‘good’ probably has too many value based associations to be beneficial. A better word would be ‘effective’. What is an ‘effective question’? There are three issues (Purpose, Vocabulary and Source Content) to be considered in defining and answering this question. We agree with the paragraph above. Our definition is: We think an effective question is… It should be an open question (an open question is a question that give lots of information, It is one that we need to think about and have a solution. It should make sense and you should understand the question and its subject, It should relate to the subject.
The professionals summery of an effective question. An effective question is one that returns the required information, to do this it needs to contain the relevant context and the query needs to applied to a source that contains the required information. These factors also need to be supported by a range of questioner skills. Or An effective question can be something that includes the additional information, the text needs to be relevant and up to date, a question and an answer needs to be backed up by information or an opinion.
If it is a science question what would it contain? You need a question that would lead to an experiment and an informative answer. It should contain how, what and why.
